In a newly released recording that was given permission to be aired, the last words of one of the slain teens whispers into the phone as he attempts to report his kidnapping on the night of June 12 at 10:25 p.m.

“They’ve kidnapped me,” whispered the teen to an operator at Israel’s emergency hotline, 100. In the background the kidnappers can be heard shouting in Arabic-accented Hebrew to keep their heads and hands down.

As the operator tries to engage the caller, he receives no answer.

Second later, loud noises ring out. It is believed that the noises are the gunshots that killed Eyal Yifrach, Gilad Shaar, and Naftali Frenkel. Someone in the car is immediately heard groaning in pain.

At one point in the recording, a voice in Arabic says, “Take the phone from him.”

The recording, 49 second long, ends when the operator’s supervisor come on the phone. The supervisor asks the caller repeatedly where he is. No one in the car speaks.

According to a report by Channel 2, in the second minute of the call, the two kidnappers are heard conversing in Arabic. The entire call lasted 2:09 minutes until it was cut off.

The call was immediately transferred to a senior officer who called the number eight times. Three times the officer received a busy signal and five times the call went directly to voicemail.

Military sources believe that the kidnappers, after having realized a call had been made reporting the kidnapping, shot the three teens dead in the back of the car. Army Radio confirmed that blood and bullet casings were found in the car.

Israeli security officials were not notified of the call until seven hours after it was placed, believing it was a prank call. After a thorough investigation that revealed a profound number of professional failures, four senior police officer were dismissed.

A report released on Wednesday by Haaretz stated that one of the cellphones of the teens continued to transmit for over an hour after the call was made. The transmission would have allowed police to hone in on the phones built in tracking device and locate the bodies of the youth within hours instead of 18 days.

A preliminary investigation found that at around 11:20 p.m., the murderers removed the batteries of two of the cellphones in order to cut off their tracking devices. The third phone reportedly had a build in battery that could not be removed.

The phone only stopped transmitting after it was destroyed, around 11:50 p.m. when officials believe it was thrown into the the kidnappers set on fire.

While it is not confirmed who placed the call, the father of Gilad Shaar recognized it as his sons voice.
