3 IDF Soldiers Killed in Booby-Trapped UN Building

Three IDF soldiers were killed in an explosion on Wednesday when a UN building in Gaza, booby-trapped with explosives, went off.

The building, which was located in Khan Younis, was being searched by an elite IDF Maglan tunnel unit. The unit was tracing a terror tunnel and were in the process of uncovering an opening. The opening was located at an UNRWA health clinic.

As the soldiers were entering the building, the explosives suddenly detonated, causing the entire building to collapse on the soldiers. 15 soldiers were injured. IDF soldiers came under fire while evacuating the wounded back to Israeli territory.

The IDF is investigating whether terrorists stole a UN sign and placed it over the building in order to deter any strikes since the building has not been re-registered as a UNRWA building over the last three years.

This is the third such incident involving the UNRWA in support of Hamas terrorists. The IDF has proven previously that Hamas uses UNRWA schools to fire rockets into Israel and hide its weapons.

On Tuesday, the IDF found, for the third time, a large stockpile of rockets at a UN school. In the first incident where rockets were found at an UNRWA school, the UN returned the rockets to Hamas.

Quick to deflect attention away from itself, the UN refused to comment on the deaths of the three soldiers. The UNRWA proceeded to blame Israel for a rocket strike on one of their schools in Gaza, which terrorists were using as a base to fire rockets on Israel.

The UN agency also blamed Israel for a strike on a Gaza hospital which killed dozens of Gazans. It was later proven that the strike on the hospital was actually caused by a misfired Hamas Fajr-5 Iranian made rocket with a 100kg warhead.

Deputy Foreign Minister Tzahi Hanegbi slammed the UNRWA for continuing to hand back rockets to Hamas and “endangering and jeopardizing lives in Israel.”

“Instead of blaming and condemning Israel, UNRWA should make a real effort to stop being manipulated and used by the terrorist organizations,” he said.
