In recent years, some amazing discoveries have been uncovered in Israel. Kind David’s palace, King Solomon’s temple and many of the places where the Biblical prophets works and lived point to the Jewish people’s long rooted history to the land of Israel.

Archaeology is now working to confirm the history of the Bible, bringing its characters to life.

Meanwhile, in New York, the United Nations Security Council rejected a Palestinian resolution that called for the establishment of a Palestinian state without taking into account Israeli security concerns.

The unilateral resolution demanded Israel withdraw from East Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria by 2017 and the formation of a state on pre-1967 borders, borders deemed indefensible by Israel.

Last, one year has passed since Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon died after suffering many years in a comatose state brought on by a stroke. Here is a look back at one of Israel’s most influential and controversial leaders.
