Two Israeli Border Police officers were wounded Wednesday morning in a vehicular terror attack in Jerusalem near the entrance to the Mount of Olives.

The attack occurred around 10 am at the At-Tur junction in East Jerusalem. The terrorist was shot by police officers and died shortly after from his wounds.

Magen David Adom paramedics arrived at the scene and treated the wounded. A male officer sustained light injuries and was evacuated to Hadassah Medical Center. The female officer sustained moderate wounds and was taken to Shaare Zedek Hospital.

An initial investigation revealed that the driver, a Palestinian from East Jerusalem, spotted a group of Border Police officers conducting security checks. The terrorist veered off the road and drove at high speed towards the officers.

After the attack, the terrorist tried to “confirm the kill” by reversing over the wounded police. That was when he was “neutralized” by surrounding policemen, an official statement read.

Following the attack, tens of Palestinian rioters surrounded the scene and began attacking emergency responders.

Wednesday’s attack is the latest in a string of terror incidents throughout the Israeli heartland. Last week, four Israeli teens were wounded when a Palestinian driver plowed through a hitchhiking post in Judea.
