Four Israelis were injured in a drive-by terror shooting Monday night near the Samarian community of Shvut Rachel, north of Ramallah.

Three of the victims were in moderate condition while the fourth suffered serious injuries. Magen David Adom paramedics treated the victims at the scene and evacuated them to hospitals in Jerusalem. Paramedics told Walla! news that the four victims were in their twenties and had been shot in the legs.

The four victims were driving back from a basketball game near Route 60, the main highway that runs north-south through Judea and Samaria, when they were attacked.

Security forces are unsure whether the car was shot at from a nearby vehicle or from a roadside ambush.

Immediately after the attack, the IDF deployed a large contingency of soldiers in the area to search for the perpetrators. Security forces have set up checkpoints to search vehicles for any possible suspects. Nearby Jewish communities of Tapuah, Rachelim, Migdalim and Nofei Nehemia have been placed on high alert.

Monday evening’s attack took place not far from where an Israeli hiker was shot dead by a Palestinian terrorist, who still remains at large.

Head of the Yesha Council Avi Roeh said the attack “joins a long line of serious terror incidents that began after the start of Ramadan.”

Since the start of Ramadan two weeks ago, six major terror attacks have been carried out against Israelis. Earlier on Monday, a female IDF soldier was stabbed in the throat and arm by a female Palestinian terrorist at a checkpoint near Rachel’s Tomb.

Community spokesman for the Shvut Rachel community told media, “Anyone who thinks [these attacks] weaken our hold on the land of Israel, ignores the over 3,000 years of existence of the eternal nation,” Arutz Sheva quoted him as saying.

“We are shocked by the ease with which we return to daily life after each attack, and urge the Israeli government to take responsibility and to restore an appropriate Zionist response, causing the terrorists and those who send them to understand that they will lose out from such an evil act,” he said.

“We urge the government to immediately approve the building plans in Shvut Rachel and surrounding communities near the scene of the attack. The Israeli government’s response should be expanding the settlements and strengthening the youngest settlement in the region.”
