Shame on the BBC! Headline Distorts News to Downplay Palestinian Terrorist Attack

October 4, 2015

Following Saturday’s heinous and deadly terror attack that killed two Israelis and left two others, including a two-year-old toddler, injured, BBC News posted an article on the attack with a headline that read: “Palestinian shot dead after Jerusalem attack kills two.”

The sensationalist headline leads readers to believe that not only was the attack perpetrated against the Palestinian, but that the terrorist himself, who was shot dead by Israeli security forces, was the victim.

A few hours later, the website modified the headline to report more accurately on the story that actually occurred. The headline currently reads, “Jerusalem: Palestinian kills two Israelis in Old City”.

The Islamic Jihad terrorist organization claimed that the perpetrator of the attack, a 19-year-old Palestinian male from the town of al-Bireh near Ramallah, is a member of their organization.

This is not the first time that British news sources, and specifically the BBC has distorted their headlines after a Palestinian terror attack to portray the terrorist as the victims.

The attack, which took place on Saturday evening in the Old City of Jerusalem, is the latest in a series of terrorist acts that have occurred across Israel following the horrific shooting of two parents in front of their children while driving home on Thursday night.

Fatah’s armed wing claimed responsibility for the murder of the Israeli couple. The terror organization is officially part of the Palestinian Authority under the command of PA President Mahmoud Abbas, who recently disavowed in a UN address any responsibility in abiding by the Oslo accords.

Following Abbas’s speech at the UN, senior Hamas official Mahmoud Zahar on Saturday called for Palestinian residents of Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria to “mobilize” and “take up arms” in an open call for armed attacks against Jews.

Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz reacted to the Jerusalem stabbing attack and said that the incident was “a direct result of incitement perpetrated by Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas.”

Continuing the escalation of violence perpetrated by Palestinians over the weekend, three shooting attacks occurred in a number of cities in Israel, including Lod, Jerusalem and a town in the Binyamin Region.

All three shooting attacks were perpetrated by either Israeli Arabs or Palestinian assailants attempting to kill Jews who were celebrating the festival of Sukkot. During the festival, Jews eat, and sleep in sukkot, traditional outdoor dwellings.

The terrorists began shooting at the sukkot in all three locations, attempting to kill the occupants. During the attacks two people were injured. One of the victims is a 16-year-old girl who was shot in the head while sleeping. She is currently in critical condition. None of the shooting attacks were reported by international media.
