PA Calls For UN To Condemn Israel for Killing Terrorists

In a shocking act of audacity, the Palestinian Authority has demanded the international community and UN intervene to prevent further Israeli violence, citing “the killing of two young men in occupied Jerusalem”, while failing to mention the young men were killed while stabbing Israelis.

Wafa wrote:

“The Palestinian government condemned the recent Israeli political and security escalation in the West Bank and Jerusalem.”

“In a statement Sunday, the government asked the international community and the United Nations to intervene to compel Israel to stop its violations in the Palestinian occupied territories, the recent of which were the killing of two Palestinians in Jerusalem, as well as the military offensive in multiple Palestinian cities.”

“The PA considered the Israeli escalation to be an obstacle to ongoing peace efforts and the two-state solution.”

“The situation has became volatile across the West Bank and Jerusalem recently in the aftermath of the Israeli attempts to divide al-Aqsa Mosque, Islam’s third holiest place, between Muslims and Jews.”

“The terror arson attack on the Dawabsheh family home near Nablus two months ago also ignited tensions in the West Bank.”

It should be noted that police have made no arrests in connection with the tragic arson attack, and there are reasons to suspect it was not perpetrated by Jewish extremists.

PA government spokesman Ihab Bseiso issued a statement in Wafa Palestinian news and information agency, saying, “The only solution is the end of the Israeli occupation of our occupied Palestinian land and the establishment of our independent state on the 1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital.” Bseiso called for continued and strengthened struggles against the “occupation”.

Muhannad Shafeq Halabi, 19, was a Palestinian law student from al-Bireh, near Ramallah. On Saturday night in the Old City of Jerusalem, he stabbed five Israelis, including a two-year-old girl, killing two men. He grabbed a handgun from the man he had just killed and began shooting at people in the vicinity, and was then shot and killed by Israeli security forces.

Fadi Aloon, a resident of Issawiya in East Jerusalem, was killed by security forces Sunday morning after stabbing a 15-year-old Israeli in Jerusalem.

Though there has yet to be a response from the United Nations or any world leaders to Bseiso’s call to action, it should be noted that almost half of the UN’s country specific resolutions concern Israel, many of them blaming Israel for aggressive expansionist policies and egregious human rights violations. As of 2013, Israel had been condemned by no less than 45 UN resolutions. Passing on an opportunity to condemn Israel, no matter how absurd, would be a serious break with UN tradition.
