With Israel’s Hebron area, located just south of Jerusalem, being the focus for terrorist attacks against civilians and security forces during this latest wave of terror, The Hebron Fund, the Hebron Jewish community’s official sponsor, is holding a Mega Raffle Sweepstake to help support the community.

“The campaign’s grand prize winner will receive $100,000!” exclaimed Rabbi Rosenstein, Executive Director of the Hebron Fund, to Breaking Israel News. “With a maximum of only 25,000 tickets being sold, the odds to win are great.”

The drawing will take place on February 17, 2016. Other prizes include round trip airfare for four people or $5,000 in cash and five winners will receive $1,000 in cash.

Maintaining a Jewish presence in Hebron is considered crucial to the preservation of its many holy sites and long history. Walking its streets puts people into the footsteps of Biblical ancestors such as Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Rebecca, Jacob, Leah, Caleb, Joshua, King David and the Maccabees.

“90 Jewish families live in close proximity to Hebron’s holy sites,” noted Rabbi Daniel Rosenstein to Breaking Israel News. “The community has been dealing with nearly daily terror attacks and threats and needs our support.”

Hebron is a must visit holy site for people who want to connect to their Biblical roots and ancient history. The building of the Tomb of the Patriarchs and Matriarchs dates back at least 2,000 years. The Tomb of Avner Ben-Ner, King David’s commander, as well as the burial place of Ruth and Jesse, are places for devotional prayer, just to name a few of Hebron’s holy places.

The funds raised through the raffle will help the The Hebron Fund upkeep these holy sites, run educational programs for children and youth, support Hebron public relations and help Hebron’s many soldiers and families.

Noting the recent murder of Ginadi Kaufman at the hands of a Palestinian terrorist, Rabbi Rosenstein emotionally said to Breaking Israel News, “Ginadi was our colleague, friend, and the gardener for the Tomb of the Patriarchs and Matriarchs and other holy sites in Hebron.”

Kaufman’s funeral, held at the base of the steps to the Tomb of the Patriarchs and Matriarchs, was not only attended by hundreds of mourners but also MK’s Uri Ariel and MK Yuli Edelstein, highlighting the importance of Hebron to Israel. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sent his condolences stressing that Israel would never be removed from this holy city.

The Hebron Fund and community thank all who prayed for Ginadi’s recovery over the past 3 weeks,” said Rabbi Rosenstein to Breaking Israel News. “Our goal must be to continue his great efforts on behalf of Hebron. Participating in the Mega Raffle Sweepstake helps that mission to succeed.”

Stressing that gifts to The Hebron Fund make an immediate difference to the community, Rabbi Rosenstein asked, “Who will assure that the Hebron gardens remain beautiful? We have to keep Hebron going. That’s the ultimate goal of the raffle,” adding, “I wonder what the fortunate prize winner will do with $100,000?”
