[BLOG] Pastor John Hagee: A Dear Friend to Israel

The Western World, which is mainly Christian, estimated between 1.6 to 2.2 billion in population, accepted the Jewish Bible as a Holy Book, the inerrant Word of God.

Now millions of Christians from all denominations have started a movement of returning to the Hebraic roots of the original faith. They have realized that the House of Israel is still the people chosen by God; that the return of the Jews to the Promised Land and establishment of the State of Israel in 1948 and recapturing Jerusalem in 1967, which again became their undivided capital, is in fulfillment of Bible prophecies.

bin blog for usPro-Israel Christians are beginning to awaken worldwide and believe that they are from the ancient non-Jewish house of Joseph, from the Lost Ten Tribes of Israel. The third International Christian Zionist Congress, held in Jerusalem in February 1996, proclaimed: “God the Father, Almighty, chose the ancient nation and people of Israel, the descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, to reveal His plan of redemption for the world. They remain the elect of God, and without the Jewish nation (of Israel), His redemptive purposes for the world will not be completed.”

There are growing numbers of Christians, especially among Evangelicals and Protestants, who have interpreted the Bible literally as a mandate for the unconditional support of Israel as the chosen people of God. They have rejected the “Replacement Theology” that presents Christians as being  the new “spiritual Israel”, which is a direct contradiction to the Bible’s teaching.

Among the prominent Christian Zionist leaders, sometimes called ‘Biblical advocates’ for the Jewish people and the State of Israel, are Billy Graham, Pat Robertson and Jerry Farwell. Their message to the nations is: “To stand against Israel is to stand against God. We believe that history and Scripture prove that God deals with nations in relation to how they deal with Israel.”

One of the most significant figures of this movement today is Pastor John Hagee. His uncompromising position of solidarity and long-time love of Israel has earned him the deep appreciation and respect of Jewish people around the world, alongside controversy and rejection among Christian clergy, who often call him a heretic.

Said Hagee: “It is unscriptural to go against Israel, because by doing so, one, in effect, is poking God in the eye, which is not very wise to do” (Zechariah 2:8). Commenting on Genesis 12:3, which reads “I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you. All the families of the earth will be blessed through you (Israel),” Hagee states: “I want to be blessed, not cursed, by God.” And furthermore, “It is not possible to say, ‘I am a Christian’ and not love the Jewish people.’”

Doctor Hagee is also one of the leaders of Christians United for Israel (CUFI). Here are some of his remarks made at the annual CUFI Summit in Washington:

“I stand here as Israel is surrounded and hounded, boycotted and threatened. I stand here with a strong message of solidarity with you, my Jewish brethren, the apple of God’s eye. At this difficult juncture in our history, permit me to say something to you straight from the heart. Please know that what I say is a sentiment shared by millions of Christians across America and around the world. When the entire world is against Israel, we proudly proclaim: Ani Yisraeli – I am an Israeli. Israel’s enemies are our enemies. Israel’s fight is our fight. If a line has to be drawn, then let it be drawn around both of us – Christians and Jews, Americans and Israelis. We are one. We are united. We will not be defeated. In the end, when the last battle has been fought, the flag of Israel will still be flying over the ancient walls of Jerusalem. Israel will prevail! Ani Yisraeli – I am Israeli.”

What a man!

God has blessed Pastor Hagee for his deep understanding of the Scriptures, his unprecedented bravery and unconditional love for God’s chosen people.

Today, most of the world is unjustly against the Jews. Anti-Semitism, hatred, and racism have reached unprecedented levels. The very survival of the Jewish state of Israel is at stake. All people of good will, who believe in the Bible as the Sacred Word of the Almighty, should make a choice and stand firmly on the side of Israel. That is what God wants them to do. In turn, they will save themselves and help God to advance His Divine Plan for the World-to-Come, a plan which would be absolutely impossible if Israel did not exist.
