In a video released on the internet on Thursday, President Barack Obama officially announced his support for his former opponent, Hillary Clinton, in her second bid to win the seat once occupied by her husband, Bill Clinton.

In the video, the President congratulated her on, “making history”, though he did not explain in what way. Hillary Clinton is the 16th woman to run for President of the United States. If she wins her party’s nomination at the convention in July, she will be the first woman to be nominated by her party to represent them in the presidential campaign. Obama stressed her experience as his Secretary of State, saying, ““I don’t think there’s ever been someone so qualified to hold this office.”

“I want those of you who have been with me since the beginning of this incredible journey to be the first to know that I’m with her,” Obama continued. “I am fired up. And I can’t wait to get out there and campaign with Hillary.”

His announcement came after a meeting with Clinton’s opponent, Bernie Sanders. After the hour-long meeting in the Oval Office, Sanders announced to the press that he will continue to battle for the Democratic nomination. Obama will begin actively campaigning with Clinton next week in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Donald Trump, the front-runner in the Republican primaries, responded via Twitter, attracting a trite, yet bitter, response from Clinton.

Vice President Joe Biden made a grammatically challenged endorsement of Clinton at an event in Washington on Thursday night, saying, “Anybody who thinks that whoever the next president is — and God willing, in my view, it will be Secretary Clinton.”

Clinton has a majority of delegates in the Democratic primaries, but, Obama’s announcement came only after he met with her opponent, Bernie Sanders. announced he will continue to campaign for the party’s nomination.

Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren also endorsed Clinton on Thursday.

“I am ready to get in this fight and work my heart out for Hillary Clinton to become the next president of the United States,” she told MSNBC, “and to make sure that Donald Trump never gets any place close to the White House.”

Warren admittedly has a vested interest in endorsing Clinton. In an interview on MSNBC, Warren was queried, “If you were asked to be Secretary Clinton’s running mate, do you believe you could do it?”

Her response was a simple, “Yes, I do.”

Clinton’s choice of a running mate has yet to be announced.
