Terror plagued German streets yet again on Sunday as two separate attacks were carried out by as many Syrian refugees killing one native and injuring at least 14 others.
An explosion shook the city of Ansbach on Sunday night when a 27-year-old Syrian detonated an explosive device at a wine bar, Sky News reported, wounding 12 people, three seriously. According to initial reports, the blast had been caused by a gas leak, but Bavaria’s interior ministry later denied the claim, saying that the explosion was intentional.
The attacker, who had previously been denied asylum in Germany and was on the verge of being deported to Bulgaria, was killed in the blast.
It was later reported that the bomber left behind a video which he recorded on his cell phone in which he pledged allegiance to the Islamic State (ISIS).
Earlier on Sunday afternoon, another Syrian refugee, 21, viciously murdered a pregnant woman and injured two others in a brutal machete attack, according to Israel National News.

Following the attack, German police said that the stabber was a “lone operator” and “had a dispute” with the woman adding that details from the preliminary investigation do not give credence to suspicions that this was an act of terror, believing that it stemmed from personal, rather than ideological, reasons.
Sunday’s attacks are the latest in a sudden stream of incidents plaguing Germany in recent days.
Nine people were murdered and 35 others wounded in a mass shooting that took place in a McDonald’s restaurant at the Olympia shopping mall in Munich on Friday. The gunman was later identified as 18-year-old German-Iranian Ali Sonboly who reportedly planned the attack for a year.
Last week a 17-year-old Afghan refugee stabbed train passengers near the city of Wurzberg with an axe and a knife amid shouts of “Allahu Akbar” (Allah is great), seriously wounding three people. The teen was shot dead by German police as he attempted to flee the scene. During an investigation of the attacker’s bedroom, police discovered a hand painted ISIS flag, shedding light that he had been influenced by the radicalized group.
The rapid acceleration of violent terror attacks in Germany has generated a climate of fear in the country, fuelling Europe’s already charged atmosphere following terror incidents in France and Turkey in just the last month.
Further, the progression of incidents moving eastward has brought with it genuine concern as the world waits with bated breath, wondering which European city will be struck next.
