Meanwhile,  Nahariya, 32-year-old Motti Ben Shabat tragically drowned while saving a family from a vehicle that was trapped underwater in an upstream by the beach.

A friend of Ben Shabat, who witnessed the event unfold, told Channel 12: “he jumped to save the people. There was a man in the car who drowned. He jumped into the water, and the current pulled him into the car and he disappeared inside after that. Now we already know he is at sea. We are mourning and hurt; I’ve known him from childhood.”

Schools in Naharia have been closed due to the downpours.
