Anyone who has been to Israel during Purim is familiar with the famous Purim street parades. These iconic processions bring a true festive spirit to the streets of Israel as exhibitionists entertain the crowds, floats are donned with artistic performances and of course – creative costumes. 

These holiday parades draw massive crowds, especially children. 

But unfortunately, this year, for the first time in Israel’s history, those children won’t be able to attend the parade…In fact, no one will.

Israel’s Health Ministry put new restrictions in place preventing mass gatherings due to fears surrounding the coronavirus, This includes soccer games, concerts and yes – the much-anticipated Purim Parades.

More than anyone, this development affects Israel’s children in Israel living under the poverty line. That’s because although many of their parents cannot afford to take them to fun activities that the other kids go to, the annual Purim Parades were always free.
