Jacob called for his sons and said, ‘Gather round and I will tell you what will happen to you at the End of Days.’ GENESIS (49:1)

This verse, from the end of the Book of Genesis, introduces the blessings that Jacob bestows upon his children. Jewish commentators explain that really, Jacob intended on doing more than bless his children; his ultimate desire was to tell them about the ‘End of Days’ and the arrival of the Moshiach (Messiah). Although Jacob wanted to spell it out clearly, the details surrounding the Moshiach were hidden, meant to be shrouded in mystery and anticipated by Jacob’s family each and every day.
