Two stabbing terror attacks took place in Jerusalem within moments of each other on Tuesday. Two of the attackers, who stabbed an Israeli security guard at a light rail station in the neighborhood of Pisgat Ze’ev, were reported to be 12 and 13 years old, breaking the record for the youngest terrorist to have carried out a stabbing attack during the current wave of terror.

According to reports from the Israel Police, the two Palestinian minors accosted the guard and one of them stabbed him in the torso with a large knife, wounding him moderately. The guard managed to shoot one of the attackers, injuring him. Both of the boys were apprehended.Mere moments after the incident, another terrorist attempted a stabbing attack near the Damascus Gate of the Old City. There were no injuries, and the terrorist was shot and neutralized, though his present condition is unknown.
The attacks broke a period of relative peace in the country’s capital, which had not seen a terrorist incident since October 30th, when an Arab man stabbed an Israeli man before being shot dead by police. That incident also took place at a light rail station. Previous to that attack, there had been no terror attacks in Jerusalem for nearly two weeks, a reprieve in part due to the deployment of over a thousand reserve guards and police around the city.
