[Blog] The “Lost” Ten Tribes of Israel

Many historians and researchers have verified that the “Lost” Ten Tribes of Israel are in our midst. Some, like Manasseh, reside in the most powerful countries of the world (e.g. the United States of America) while others, such as Ephraim, live in formerly powerful countries such as Britain. Others still live in Commonwealth and European countries such as Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, Belgium, Denmark, Scotland, Ireland, Switzerland, Sweden, Finland, and Norway.

These are all Israelite countries, originating from Israelite tribes. Some of these countries have a large percentage of Israelite (or Hebrew) descent, others have less. It is the word of God that all Twelve Tribes of the House of Israel will be represented among the nations at the end of days. In order to fulfill this prophecy, the entire House of Jacob has to be reunited. As the Midrash says: “And you find that Israel will not be redeemed until they become one unity” (Tanchuma, Nitzavim 1:18, reflecting on Jeremiah 3:18 and Ezekiel 37:22).

The prophecy says that “Israel will multiply as the stars of the heaven and as the sand of the sea shore.” (Genesis 22:17); “The house of Israel will spread abroad to the four corners of the globe.” (Isaiah 11:12); “They will be speaking foreign languages” (Isaiah 28:11) and “will bear another name” (Isaiah 65:15); God will be always with Israel, and bring them to the Holy Land again (Leviticus 26:40, 44; Jeremiah 32:37); all nations of the world will be blessed through Israel (Genesis 22:18); and God will not leave Israel until everything written and spoken will be done (Joshua 1:5; Deut. 31:6).

The Jews have had no nations and kingdoms of their own, except for ancient Judea of the past and the State of Israel today. God foretold that “a nation and a company of nations shall be of thee [Israel], and kings shall come out of thy lions,” vowing to “make of thee a multitude of people” (Genesis 35:11; 48:4).

Surely, such words could not apply to Judah, whose population (due to constant killings and holocausts) cannot approach the description of “the stars of the sky and the sand of the seashore” which properly fits the Ten Tribes of Israel.

Some readers may wonder: if those countries are of Israelite origin, why do they act as enemies against the Jewish state and generate so much anti-Semitism which has forced countless Jews to flee to Israel and other countries which offer safe haven?

Beside an explanation that the Ten Tribes of Israel completely lost their Israelite identity; that they were the first nations who accepted Christianity; that the light of the Torah no longer shines for them, the best answer is in the words of the Almighty: “Then I cut asunder Mine other staff, even Bands, that I might break the brotherhood between Judah and Israel” (Zechariah 11:14) or: “Manasseh devour Ephraim and Ephraim, Manasseh: and they together shall be against Judah” (Isaiah 9:21).

These prophecies illustrate precisely the geopolitical reality in the world today: America, England, and Europe are becoming increasingly hostile towards Judah, the State of Israel, and each other.

There is no need to dig further for an understanding of this issue. This situation is clearly the work of God and His essential divine plan for the future.

What we have to realize is that the majority of the Ten Tribes have never reunited with the Jewish people. They are still living in exile. Their future destiny is a prophesied reunion with their brother Judah and redemption in the times of Messiah.

How do we know it? It has been written in the Bible and Talmud. It has been confirmed by the rabbinical literature and the great Jewish sages as Rav Eliezer, Rav Rashbi, Rav Yehudah the Prince, historian Josephus Flavius, Rav Nahmanides, Rav Abarbanel, Rav Malbim, Rav Kook, and many others.

The return of the tribes is fundamental and is an essential dimension of Judaism. This union equals peace, prosperity, and fulfilled prophecy. The reunification of all the families of Jacob will be the beginning of a new Messianic age of Liberation and Redemption. Those who reject these numerous prophecies reject the sacred Word of the Almighty.

To all the deniers of the existence of the Ten Tribes still in exile and their future return, the God of Israel responds: “I will cause the captivity of Judah and the captivity of Israel to return, and will build them, as at the first” (Jeremiah 33:7).

To this powerful message we may add, that it is forbidden to be amongst those who deny the Redemption of the Ten Tribes.
