“Jerusalem remembereth in the days of her affliction and of her anguish all her treasures that she had from the days of old; now that her people fall by the hand of the adversary, and none doth help her, the adversaries have seen her, they have mocked at her desolations.” Lamentations 1:7 (The Israel Bible™)
The city of Jerusalem was rattled after three terror attacks left three Israeli civilians seriously wounded and several others moderately wounded on Tuesday and Wednesday, in what social media users have now coined the “Days of Hell”.
Damascus Gate saw terror yet again on Tuesday afternoon when a lone Palestinian terrorist opened fire on Israeli Police patrol around 5:00 PM, critically injuring one policeman before attempting to flee the scene. During the pursuit, the terrorist shot at a second policeman, seriously wounding him. The attacker was neutralized by policemen, succumbed to his wounds and died at the scene.
The victims, 49 and 31-year old males, were treated by Magen David Adom (MDA) paramedics. Both were immediately transported to Hadassah Ein Karem Hospital in Jerusalem.
Hadassah Hospital Spokeswoman Hadar Elboim told press, “The 49-year-old police officer’s life is hanging by a thread and the Hadassah medical staff is fighting for the victim’s life.”
Meanwhile, the second victim was transported to the hospital fully conscious after MDA treated him at the scene. Though he suffered moderate gunshot wounds, he is currently stabilized.
On Wednesday morning two terrorists carried out two shooting attacks on Israeli vehicles at different locations in Jerusalem. They first shot at a bus at Ramot Junction around 8:00 AM. Reportedly, passengers on the bus saw two suspects carrying weapons and subsequently heard gunfire.
An Israeli civilian nearby apparently ran towards the terrorists and shot one bullet at them, prompting the suspects to flee the scene. No one was injured by the gunshots, although TPS reported that three people were lightly wounded in the panic and several others required treatment for shock.
From there, the terrorists drove toward Damascus Gate, shooting at Israeli cars. One Israeli citizen, approximately 50-years old, sustained serious gunshot wounds to the upper body. He was immediately transported to Hadassah Ein Kerem hospital where medics are treating him, fighting to save his life.
The two terrorists of Wednesday morning’s attacks were shot and killed by Israeli Police at Damascus Gate while they shot at civilians from their car. Their vehicle was located by Police forces after a widespread search was initiated following the initial attack at Ramot Junction.
The Jerusalem attacks came amid two days of terror that pervaded the country. Earlier on Tuesday afternoon, an ultra-Orthodox man was stabbed in the neck in Petach Tikva. Despite sustaining serious injuries, the man courageously removed the knife from his neck and stabbed his attacker, killing the assailant. The man is currently hospitalized though he is expected to make a full recovery. Tuesday night saw further bloodshed when a Palestinian assailant carried out a vicious stabbing attack, killing one American tourist and wounding ten others.
