ESTHER 2:7

And he (Mordechai) brought up Hadassah, that is, Esther, his uncle’s daughter; for she had neither father nor mother. (Esther 2:7)

We learn from today’s verse about Esther’s very humble and difficult beginnings as an orphan with neither father nor mother. Mordechai not only became her primary caretaker as a child, but he instilled in her the Godly values that followed her throughout life, and she never veered from his guidance. In her role as Queen of Persia, Esther became a shining light for all generations of how to preserve one’s faith in exile.
