Israeli Forces on Sunday night demolished the home of Mohammed Tarayreh, a 17 year-old Palestinian terrorist who killed an Israeli girl in her own bed in a terror attack in June.
Tarayreh, a resident of the village of Bani Na’im near Hebron, broke into 13-year-old Hallel Yaffa Ariel’s home in the Jewish community of Kiryat Arba and stabbed her to death. Ariel died of her wounds shortly after being rushed to Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem. The terrorist was killed at the scene.
“My daughter was sleeping, calm and peaceful, and a terrorist just got into her bed and murdered her,” Hallel’s mother, Rina, told Israeli media after the attack.
The village of Bani Na’im was placed under quarantine following the terror attack. On Sunday night IDF forces demolished Tarayreh’s house in the village.
The practice of home demolitions is controversial, with its supporters arguing that it deters future terrorists and its critics claiming it constitutes collective punishment. Israel’s recently appointed defense minister, Avigdor Liberman, is a vocal advocate for demolishing the homes of terrorists.
