An Economic Stick Against Dark Forces

The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for West Asia (ESCWA), one of the organizations operating on behalf of the UN, has commissioned another report against Israel. The ESCWA is made up exclusively of representatives of Arab states, and its most recent executive secretary was Rima Khalaf of Jordan.

Like other reports published on behalf of the ESCWA in recent years, the latest one, which was released last week, was authored by Richard Falk, an American Jew. The conclusions, which were known in advance, were that Israel is an apartheid state.

Falk represents, perhaps more than any other person, the decline and the ridiculing of the rights discourse. His series of actions gave him the third place on the Simon Wiesenthal Center’s Top 10 Anti-Semitic/Anti-Israel Slurs list in 2013. For six years, Falk served as a UN special rapporteur on “the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967.” He kept issuing groundless reports, much to the delight of the cheering representatives of the Islamic states. In addition to his admiration towards the dark forces, Falk repeatedly compared Israel to Nazi Germany.

In the past, Falk met with Iran’s former supreme leader, Ayatollah Khomeini, who received his protection and admiration. After American linguist Noam Chomsky and American political scientist Norman Finkelstein expressed their support for Hezbollah, it appears that there is some fatal—perhaps abnormal—attraction between Jews of a certain species and people with a murderous and anti-Semitic agenda. How exactly do “human rights” fit in with support for these people?

Falk, by the way, is also one of deniers of the 9/11 terror attacks in the United States. It’s not that there were no attacks, the “truthers” argue, but it was a conspiracy of the American administration. The meticulous ones of course bring Israel, the Mossad or the Jewish establishment into the picture, as the multi-armed octopus controlling the world.

I can go on and on about Falk’s misdeeds, but this anti-Semitic Jew is a professor emeritus at the prestigious Princeton University and has been honored for years by the dark states which have an automatic majority at the UN’s Human Rights Council (UNHRC). The US, Britain, Canada and other countries have condemned him repeatedly, but to no avail. There is a democratic celebration there—the majority calls the shots, with a Jewish professor giving Iran exactly what it wants.

The co-author of Falk’s report is Prof. Virginia Tilley, one of the first and loudest supporters of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, who keeps recycling claims of war crimes and apartheid against Israel. She is indeed a loyal partner to Falk.

Like with other reports of this kind, the “researchers” are selected in accordance with prewritten conclusions. There is not even a minimal attempt to create an appearance of decency. This is a regular pattern of action in international bodies: In the past few years, it has happened in United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), in the World Health Organization (WHO), and of course in the UNHRC, which has become the most obsessive body of all.

This time, however, the report received a different response. A day after its release, UN Secretary-General António Guterres demanded that it be removed from the UN website. The report, he clarified, reflected its authors’ views oalone. The report was removed, and the ESCWA’s Jordanian executive secretary resigned. The quick response was the result of the vigorous activity of UN Watch Executive Director Hillel Neuer and of the Israeli delegation to the UN.

But there is another reason, perhaps more important, for the UN chief’s response. US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley has adopted a more decisive approach against the dark majority, and the American threat to halt funding to the UN is hovering in the background. Pulling US funding from UNESCO did not do the trick, but halting funding to the UN is a different story. The UN will reach its end.

One thing is clear: This march of foolish resolutions, produced by unenlightened states and radical professors, must be stopped. And if common sense can’t do it—the economic stick will.
