Knesset member Rabbi Yehudah Glick (Likud) took to social media Sunday night to beseech the people of Israel to pray for the health of his wife, Yaffa, who suffered from a stroke over the weekend.

“Dear and beloved friends, two and a half years ago, she asked you to pray for me. Now, following a severe stroke, she needs your prayers,” he wrote in Hebrew.

“Please rent open the Heavens [in prayer] for Yaffa bat Leah (Yaffa daughter of Leah).”

In October of 2014, Rabbi Glick survived an assassination attempt in Jerusalem after a Palestinian terrorist shot him in the chest four times at point-blank range in protest of his advocacy work on the Temple Mount.

At the time, his wife Yaffa called for the public to pray for his healing. Miraculously, and with the support of millions the world over, Rabbi Glick made a full recovery and went on to become a member of the Israeli parliament, where he continues to pursue his mission of opening the Temple Mount to prayers from all worshipers.

Rabbi Glick included his wife’s full Hebrew name, which includes the name of her mother, in his social media post. Traditionally, Jews pray for those in need of healing using their full Hebrew names.

According to the Hebrew publication Maariv, Yaffa Glick is currently in intensive care at Jerusalem’s Shaari Zedek hospital, where she was admitted on Friday.

Together, the couple has eight children and many grandchildren.
