Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon Wednesday revealed a photo showing that Iran used a Star of David as a target for a ballistic missile test last year.

Danon shared the evidence with members of the U.N. Security Council. He displayed a satellite image showing a Star of David clearly visible alongside a round crater created by the missile.

“This use of the Star of David as target practice is hateful and unacceptable,” Danon told the Security Council. He said the missile test was not only a direct violation of U.N. Security Council resolutions, but also evidence of Iran’s “continued intention to harm the state of Israel.”

“The targeting of a sacred symbol of Judaism is abhorrent,” he added.

According to Danon, the Star of David was used as a target for a mid-range Qiam ballistic missile test in December 2016.

“The Security Council must act immediately against this demonstration of hate and Iran’s provocative violations that threaten the stability of the entire region,” Danon said.
