An Israeli man was seriously wounded Wednesday after being stabbed by a Palestinian terrorist at a Shufersal supermarket in the central Israeli city of Yavneh.
The terrorist, aged 19, is from the Samaria city of Nablus, the Israel Police said. Unconfirmed reports said the terrorist was an employee at the supermarket. The victim, also an employee, was stocking shelves when the terrorist came up behind him and began stabbing him. The victim fought back violently, but was seriously injured.
Civilians at the scene of the attack restrained the terrorist, with some kicking him while he lay subdued on the ground.
The victim, 43, also reportedly a Shufersal employee, was rushed to the Kaplan Medical Center in the nearby city of Rehovot after suffering multiple severe stab wounds to his upper body. He arrived at the hospital in unstable condition, according to the Magen David Adom emergency response group.
After undergoing hours-long emergency surgery, the victim’s condition stabilized but remained serious, the man’s doctors said. On Thursday he will undergo a further operation.
