On Tuesday, the 23-year-old daughter of David Friedman, President Donald Trump’s ambassador to Israel, realized a “life-long dream” as she made aliyah (immigrated to Israel) on a special chartered flight along with 232 other returning exiles from North America.

Friedman and his wife were on the tarmac to greet Talia, a nurse, as her plane landed at Ben Gurion Airport.

“We’re so proud of our daughter Talia. She always wanted to live in Israel, and she’s realizing her dream,” the ambassador told reporters. “The whole family is just very proud of her and we’re here to just greet her and to give her a hug and to wish her hatzlacha raba (success) here in Israel. We’re very excited.”

Friedman emphasized that his entire family held Zionism as a high ideal.  “We just want her to be happy. This is something she always wanted to do. She loves Israel. We all love Israel. Our whole family loves Israel. And this is her dream. We’re very proud of her.”

He said she would likely continue with her profession, “bringing refuah (healing) to people who need help in Israel.”

Talia, who made aliyah from New York, joined over 200 other Jewish immigrants on the chartered El Al flight. New immigrants fly to Israel for free through Nefesh b’Nefesh, an organization which has helped over 50,000 North American Jews come home to the Jewish state. Every summer, Nefesh b’Nefesh sponsors several planefuls of new immigrants, who are met at the airport with ceremony and celebration.
