“Be strong, fear not; Behold your God! Requital is coming, The recompense of Hashem— He Himself is coming to give you triumph.” Isaiah 35:4 (The Israel Bible™)
U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley urged the U.N. Security Council to consider all of Iran’s “destructive conduct,” not exclusively the 2015 nuclear deal.
Iran “has repeatedly thumbed its nose” at the Security Council in its violations of U.N. resolutions aimed at addressing the Islamic Republic’s support for terrorism and fomenting of regional conflicts, Haley told the council Wednesday.
“Worse, the regime continues to play this council,” Haley said, The Associated Press reported. “Iran hides behind its assertion of technical compliance with the nuclear deal while it brazenly violates the other limits of its behavior, and we have allowed them to get away with it.”
“This must stop,” she said.
Haley noted Iran’s cyberattacks, imprisonment of journalists, persecution of religious minorities and imprisonment of homosexuals. She said Iran’s “most threatening act” is its “repeated ballistic missile launches, including the launch this summer of an ICBM-enabling missile.”
“When a rogue regime starts down the path of ballistic missiles, it tells us that we will soon have another North Korea on our hands,” she said.
Israel’s Ambassador to the U.N. Danny Danon, who addressed the Security Council before Haley, said, “When terror strikes, a trail of bloody footprints so often traces back to Iran—from Bangkok to Burgas, from Buenos Aires to Beirut, and all the way back to Tehran.”
Danon said the Security Council doesn’t need to take action only “for Israel’s sake.”
“If we are attacked by Iran, the regime will face no fiercer enemy than Israel. It is the innocent people around the world who need you to act,” he said.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran must be found guilty on all accounts. Passing and enforcing resolutions can save innocent lives. It is the Council’s responsibility to implement them. You do not need to do this for Israel’s sake. If we are attacked by Iran the regime will face no fiercer enemy than Israel. It is the innocent people around the world who need you to act,” Danon concluded.
