“This is the time for the world to recognize Israeli sovereignty over the Golan and a united Jerusalem as the capital of Israel,” MK Yair Lapid (Yesh Atid) said Wednesday morning to a group of foreign diplomats at The Jerusalem Post Conference in Jerusalem. “Now’s the time to do what’s right.”

Lapid, who was among a group of politicians addressing issues of terrorism, politics and diplomacy at the day-long event. Lapid told attendees that policies should not be dictated by threats and intimidation.

“If violence is the only argument against moving the embassy to Jerusalem then it only proves it is the right thing to do,” he said.

Lapid said strongly that he is not afraid and does not see himself as a victim. The son of Holocaust survivors, he said, “No SS officer will enter my home in Tel Aviv early in the morning. The Jews have the strength to protect ourselves. We know how to fight with the world, alongside the world, against terror and injustice.”

Israel is a country that chooses life, he said, quoting the Book of Deuteronomy: “I have put before you life and death, blessing and curse. Choose life—if you and your offspring would live.”
