Israeli President: ‘The Obvious Should Be Said: Jerusalem Is the Capital of Israel’

Israeli President Reuven Rivlin said that the Arab world needs to understand that the Jewish homeland is Israel and that the Jewish capital is Jerusalem.

Speaking Wednesday at The Jerusalem Post Diplomatic Conference in Jerusalem, Rivlin said that Israel belongs to the Jews. He said this decision is not only historic, but that it was made official on November 29, 1947, when the UN General Assembly voted in favor of a resolution that declared a Jewish state to be established in British-mandated Palestine.

“They made a moral decision, saying Jews have a right to have a national entity,” said Rivlin.

Today, he said, the obvious should be re-stated: “Jerusalem is the capital of Israel.”

Rivlin noted that of Israel’s 9 million citizens, more than two-thirds are Jewish.

“The facts are that we are here,” he said.
