Prophecy of Nations ‘Gazing on Jerusalem With Joy’ Unfolds as Czech Republic, Philippines Join US in Affirming Capital

In a sign of Biblical prophecy that the nations will gaze upon a unified Jerusalem with joy, and following US President Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital Wednesday night, the Czech Republic has said that it also recognizes Jerusalem as the capital of the Jewish state.

“The Czech Republic currently, before the peace between Israel and Palestine is signed, recognizes Jerusalem to be in fact the capital of Israel in the borders of the demarcation line from 1967,” said a statement issued by the Czech foreign ministry.

Just as Trump upended US policy against recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital in the absence of a peace agreement, the Czech Republic deviated from the other EU member states which hold there should not be a change in the status of Jerusalem in the absence of a final status agreement between the Israelis and Palestinians.

The statement, however, also noted that the Czech Republic considers Jerusalem to be the capital of the future State of Palestine.

Diverging from Trump’s announcement that the US Embassy would be relocated to Jerusalem, the Czech Republic stated, “The Ministry can start considering moving of the Czech embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem only based on results of negotiations with key partners in the region and in the world.”

The Czech Republic, former Czechoslovakia, was one of the 33 countries to vote in favor of the UN Partition Plan of 1947, which recommended the establishment of a Jewish state. Following their vote, Czechoslovakia supplied Israel with arms that were used in its early wars of defense against attacking Arab nations.

Back in April, Russia was first to recognize West Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. Now, additional states seem to be following suit. Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte sent a message to Israel that he wanted to move the Philippines Embassy to Jerusalem. Kan 11, a state-owned Israeli television channel, reported that other countries have contacted the Foreign Ministry in hopes of moving their embassies to Jerusalem.

Trump’s announcement and subsequent affirmations by other nations echoes the Biblical prophecy in the Book of Isaiah, which foretells of the nations streaming to Jerusalem.

In the days to come, the Mount of Hashem’s House shall stand firm above the mountains And tower above the hills; And all the nations shall gaze on it with joy. And the many nations shall go and shall say: “Come, Let us go up to the Mount of Hashem, To the House of the God of Yaakov; That He may instruct us in His ways, And that we may walk in His paths. For instruction shall come forth from Tzion, The word of Hashem from Yerushalayim.” Isaiah 2:2-3

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Thursday that he expected many more countries to follow suit. “We are holding contacts with other countries who will also recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. I have no doubt than when the US Embassy will move there, and even before that, many embassies will relocate to Jerusalem,” he said, adding, “It’s about time.”
