All those who stand with the State of Israel – and decency – must stand up today and say “Thank You, Nikki Haley.”
Thanks are due to the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations for standing with history, logic, truth, heritage, and reality, in noting that “America will put our embassy in Jerusalem,” adding that “no vote in the United Nations will make any difference on that.” She, of course, is right.
While 128 nations voted against President Donald Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, Ambassador Haley revealed herself as a lioness standing up for the state of Israel.
To sit among so many people who hate you and continue to speak the truth in an unwavering voice isn’t easy. This woman with principles, who is a symbol of steadfast moral convictions, deserves praise for being a light among the darkness at the United Nations. How refreshing it is to see someone with integrity, poise, resolve and commitment to the truth.
As the late Abba Eban, Israel’s legendary Ambassador to the United Nations once said,
“If Algeria introduced a resolution declaring that the earth was flat and that Israel had flattened it, it would pass by a vote of 164 to 13 with 26 abstentions.”
As much as some things change, some stay the same. What has changed is that in this Administration Israel is not forced to stand alone. Thank you, President Donald Trump. Thank you, Ambassador Nikki Haley.
Thank you for recognizing that “The United Nations has long been a hostile place for the State of Israel. Thank you for recognizing that Jerusalem is the eternal capital of the State of Israel, and thank you for standing with Israel. Thank you for standing up for what is right. May God Bless you and May God bless the United States of America.
On the other hand, some things are confusing. Part of the Jewish community isn’t supporting the Trump Administration on moving the American Embassy to Jerusalem. When, in fact, the only thing those who stand with Israel should be saying to President Trump is “Thank you.”
As we reflect upon the legacy of President Obama, the most recent news that the Obama Administration stonewalled “a Drug Enforcement Agency investigation against a major terror group, according to Politico” – if accurate, is devastating to American and Israeli interests. Politico reported that the White House stopped investigating the massive drug dealing with this organization “in order to gain favor for the Iran nuclear deal.” As a former CIA officer said, “… [the Iranians] said listen, we need you to lay off Hezbollah, to tamp down the pressure on them, and the Obama administration acquiesced to that request.”
It’s natural – terrorists stand with terrorists – Iran and Hezbollah are two sides of the same coin.
Who is Hezbollah? As a Brookings document describes, “Hezbollah had killed more Americans than any other terrorist group before 9/11. Even today, it is still far ahead of the Islamic State on this score. Its attacks on U.S. soldiers and diplomats in Lebanon in 1983 and 1984 killed hundreds. The Lebanese Hezbollah (along with a Saudi group with the same name) was also linked to the 1996 Iranian-orchestrated attack on the U.S. military barracks at Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia, which killed 19 American soldiers. When the United States invaded and occupied Iraq, Hezbollah worked with Iraqi Shiite militias that attacked U.S. soldiers and their Iraqi allies. Hezbollah has also long been active against America’s ally Israel, waging a border war against the Jewish state and attacking its facilities and citizens—and at times those of local Jewish communities—in Europe, Latin America, and Asia.”
Hezbollah is an illegal terrorist organization according to Canada, France, Australia – and the United States, yet the President of the United States allegedly hampered an investigation into their drug and weapons smuggling. Rep. Robert Pittenger (R. N.C.) is right to demand a congressional inquiry about whether the Obama White House obstructed an investigation into Hezbollah.
If anything, that adds to our appreciation of the change brought about by President Trump and Nikki Haley. And once again, thank you for standing up for what is right. May God Bless you both and May God bless the United States of America.
