The Oslo Accords were signed on the White House lawn in 1993. The handshake between Israel’s Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin and PLO Chairman Yasser Arafat was supposed to usher in peace. However, Rabin was murdered in 1995 and Arafat unleashed the Second Intifada in 2000. Peace seems as distant now as ever.
Israel’s border with it northern neighbor Lebanon, is considered its quietest and most peaceful one. However, what lies beyond is arguably Israel’s greatest threat – namely, Iran’s terrorist proxy, Hezbollah. The IDF is constantly monitoring the group and improving its own defensive capabilities. Israel has been accused of carrying out more airstrikes in Syria. Eyewitnesses claim to have seen Israeli aircraft in area of the explosions.
