During the week of Passover, Ateret Cohanim is offering free guided tours of the Old City’s Muslim Quarter, giving Jewish and Christian visitors a rare opportunity to see first hand an unknown part of the saga of the Jews’ ongoing return to Jerusalem.
Ateret Cohanim (Crown of Priests) is an organization with one of the holiest missions: they are actively working toward creating a Jewish majority in sections of Jerusalem that currently have a Muslim majority.
Jews are often reminded – from liturgy to songs and rituals – to never forget Jerusalem. The Jewish people are additionally reminded of the centrality of Jerusalem through particularly Jerusalem-focused holidays.
Issam Akel was arrested last October and put through a trial, despite the fact that he has U.S. citizenship, an Israeli ID card, and that the U.S. State Department and U.S. Ambassador to Israel demanded his release.
