Reports have surfaced – in Arabic language newspapers, such as the London-based Al-Khaleej Online – as well as Israel-based news outlets that Saudi Arabia has purchased Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system.
In response to increasing tensions between Israel and the Hamas-run Gaza Strip, the IDF has expanded Iron Dome’s umbrella of protection to Tel Aviv and other cities in the south within range of terrorist rockets.
The US Army recently purchased $193 million worth of Israeli tank technology – its ‘Trophy’ Defense System. It is akin to a mini-Iron Dome, which detects incoming anti-tank missiles and deploys an interceptor.
The Iron Dome missile defense system has been voted Israel’s all time top innovation in a competition organized by the Ministry of Economy for Israel’s 70th Independence Day celebrations which kick off Wednesday evening.
